This marks the second year of the third generation of Porsche’s first SUV, the Cayenne. Plenty of folks thought Porsche was crazy for building an SUV, but the profits from the Cayenne are what enabled the automaker to build cars like the 918 Spyder and the 911 GT2 RS. The redesign for 2019 brought the Cayenne onto an Audi platform, which it shares with other Volkswagen Group SUVs like the Audi Q7, Bentley Bentayga, and Lamborghini Urus. This generation also introduced the Cayenne Coupe, which is mechanically identical but features unique styling with a sloping roofline. The Cayenne competes with those cars as well as vehicles like the Range Rover Sport, BMW X5, and Mercedes-Benz GLS.
